There have been times when you have wanted to keep media files separated from the other users. Also, when you are running a multi-author website, the authors might want to have access to their articles and this can be helpful for organizations as it increases productivity.
Here in this article, we will discuss how to organize media uploads by users in WordPress.
Before anything else, one has to install and then follow activate the WP Users Media plugin.
Once this is activated, the plugin automatically puts restrictions on each user’s access to their own media uploads and this then allows the site administrators to view all uploads.
Now, you will have the option to customize settings that will allow custom user roles to access all media uploads. Hence, for example, if you need to allow Editors to view all media uploads and at the same time restricting Authors to their own uploads.
To fine-tune these settings, one has to head over to Settings » WP Users Media page to configure which attachments the user can access.
Hence, in this case, one can select the following option: ‘Enable so Author can only view their own attachments.’
One can also create two new user accounts and proceed to give them the ‘Author‘ role. You then have to log in to WordPress with each of the two accounts and upload images.
